Satisfying Crisp Loud But With a Clever Twist
Description
TTC Brother V2 switches are one of the the first switches manufactured by TTC to use a "click bar" mechanism. This click bar is an upgrade over older plastic "click-jackets" found in Cherry MX Blues and similar clones.
The noise produced by these switches are slightly louder than Kailh Box White V2s and other Kailh clickies. The tactility is also larger and stability is slightly better.
An extended spring is used in these switches which gives the switch a fast returning upstroke. This makes rapid pressing and button mashing feel much nice and responsive because the press is always ready to go. Additionally, the springs are silent and don't make any crunchy sounds because they are lubricated at the bottom with a thick grease.
Another interesting aspect of these switches is the use of a muted silicone pad inside the bottom housing. This might seem strange at first, having a silencing mechanism alongside a clicking mechanism, but surprisingly it does add subtle depth to the overall experience.
The tactility of the click is sharp and noticeable when typing but afterwards the bottom-out is cushioned and soft. The way the silicone helps catch the stem and cushions it as it decelerates is extremely minor and easy to miss but compared side by side with a Kailh Box White V2 the difference is much appreciated and a clever addition to make the TTC Brother V2 stand out.
Additionally, while the TTC Brother V2 is a loud switch, the muted pad helps remove the plastic-on-plastic bottom-out noise which really allows the crisp sound from the click bar mechanism to shine, undisturbed.
These switches are a great premium option for those looking to make non-keyboard related projects such as 3D printed fidget toys.
